"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it." -- Don Herold

420--Texas: Ice is bigger in Texas
@ CherieSpotting     Dec 14 2008 - 13:45 PST
cherie writes: Texas has a whole lot of Ice this year. Every year the Gaylord Texan, a swanky hotel in Grapevine, hosts an Ice! exhibit where two million pounds of ice is carved into a winter wonderland.

In 2008 the ice-carvings included Old Man Winter, a massive Santa, four ice-slides, an ice cave, an ice forest, an ice bridge with an ice pond, a ice nativity scene, ice elves, over-sized ice ornaments, a 25-ft tall ice angel and an ice gingerbread house surrounded by cool (you guessed it!) icy treats.

Thanks to forty visiting Chinese artists, you don’t have to travel to Harbin, China to see ice carvings of this quality. But bundle up, the ice sculptures are kept at 9°. Visiting Ice! is a great way to slide into the Christmas season.
