According to Chinese astrology, my mom (Bev) was born during the year of the pig. (That’s what I blame my poor eating habits on—that I was born during the Chinese year-of-the-pig, too!) The year-of-the-pig (which happens every 12-years) is an auspicious time to have a child (according to the Chinese), but 2007 is the year of the Golden Pig, which only happens once every 60-years (or once in a life-time!) The 12 animal gods on the Chinese zodiac (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig) blend with the 5 elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water) you get a 60-year cycle.
