These sailing buccaneers gathered their bottles of rum, hoisted their canvass, and set sail to raise money for three charities benefiting local women, local schools and special needs children. The boats threw up their 'chutes and gathered for a 12-mile spinnaker run from Punta de Mita to Paradise Marina. "It's always a thrill to 'pop the chute', said skipper Joe Lacey from Dos Amantes. "It's like turning the fun knob to "eleven". The pirates aboard Profligate dressed their best, the crew of "Sugar Bird", skippered by Don von Tress, won the costume contest with their matching T-shirts that said: the beatings will continue until morale improves. Organized by Ronnie the Tea Lady, the event raised over $3000. Fifteen yachts and over one-hundred people participated to make this day a success.
