"A weed is a plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered." -- Emerson

316--Nevada: Burning Man 2005, The Sun Always Rises
@ CherieSpotting     Sep 10 2005 - 04:23 PST
cherie writes: Marcus Aurelius said: “When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive--to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” I find the greatest peace in the empty desert, a vast plain of earth where silence and vastness abound.

For one week each year, the Black Rock Desert becomes a city of 35,000 people. The desert is suddenly filled with art and fire, craziness and beauty, love and community, dancing and energy. In this space called Burning Man, the desert is boundless. One man’s solitude becomes another’s search for freedom. Every day offers a host of unexpected little miracles. Like Rumi said: “The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don't go back to sleep.”
