"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death." -- Harold Wilson

313--Nevada: Burning Man 2005, Interacting with Art
@ CherieSpotting     Sep 07 2005 - 15:22 PST
cherie writes: Every year people gather from all over the world to create a spontaneous community in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. We call ourselves “Burners” and we call the vast expanse of desert around us “the playa.”

“Playa” is the Spanish word for “beach.” Burners borrowed a word from another language to describe their desert surroundings of cracked earth and wild art. In the end the word “playa” seems oddly appropriate. When you come to Burning Man, you don’t enter another country…you enter another world.

Here are photos of the playa art from Burning Man 2005.
