Jean, Margaret, Kari and I dressed up in our finest “roller disco” wear and headed out to the playa of the Black Rock Desert and swirled around like pre-teens. Is skating like riding a bike? Once you lace those boots up, does the teenage skill of roller skating come right back? The answer is no. But I scooted along and tried to stay out of everyone’s way! If skating is not your thing, next time you’re at Burning Man you might want to try the Critical Tits Bike ride. This year 6,000 women (that’s 12,000 breasts) painted their bodies and rode in unison through Black Rock City to the thunderous applause of thousands of spectators. After the ride, the grateful townsmen threw the ladies a party they will never forget. Men served women drinks, massaged their feet, and adored them in every way possible. Desert skating...possibly a new Olympic sport? Think back to 7th grade.... Remember the train? For Kari, skating is just like riding a bicycle. It all comes back. You can't have a "Roller Disco" without a proper disco ball. Lean into the turn. Jean and Kari skate like a pro. Pink mesh and combat boots works only with a feathered hat. The Critical Tits Cocktail Party begins with these political girls. A fairy princess? Anyone up for some "Kinky Kreme" donuts? This is where the girls come to get painted. If it's a party for girls, do they still call it a "cock-tail" party? Who is ready to roll the dice? The men walk around with platters of food and feed the hungry women. No dice. Neon girl. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. Look at those wild hats! Her flames need a quick "touch up." I only have eyes for you. Pair-a-dice. Latex...one step tighter than Spandex. Someone left their handprints. This guy likes his day-job. Pretty in pink. This male volunteer is mixing drinks as fast as he can. The French Tickler. Fuzzy fun. Proof that X really does mark the spot. You're not in Kansas anymore. Girl power. Smiles all around. Desert flowers. I think that was my lamp when I was in college. No other party is quite like this one. At least we know what he is thinking with. Lovely ladies come in all shapes and sizes. At the "Male Volunteer Station" there are plenty of men who will feed you, massage you and adore you. The lady in white. All races and colors are equally welcome at Burning Man. Double trouble.
