393--Wyoming: Anita & Ken's "Anything Goes" Wedding
@ Site News     Aug 01 2007 - 09:14 PST
Would you invite Gumby to your wedding? At Anita & Ken's "Anything Goes" wedding, guests were encouraged to wear costumes.

Would you invite Gumby to your wedding? At Anita & Ken's "Anything Goes" wedding, guests were encouraged to wear costumes.

cherie writes: When I got the Drever wedding invitation I knew I had to go. After the typical formalities the invite said: reception and piñata after the ceremony.

Anita told her guests it was an “anything goes” wedding. If down-to-earth Anita was going to have to wear a wedding dress, then everyone was going to have to wear a costume. Thus it was a wedding with bears and bees, hunters and cowgirls, and red-barons and green-clay figures (Gumby!) Daryl got all dressed up and wore his nicest black Slayer T-shirt.

The ceremony started with a drum circle and the bride bounced down the “aisle” to the beat of her friends banging on anything from a bucket to a tambourine. Instead of the traditional “unity candle”, the couple opted to pour two liquids into a bowl that created a chemical reaction that foamed up to form this hideous polyurethane thing.

After the delicious food and champagne toasts, we ate the igloo cake and marzipan frog dessert and then headed outside to whack the piñata until it exploded liquor-filled chocolates.

“When my daughter first told me her wedding ideas, I thought they were a bit kooky,” confessed Anita’s father in his heartfelt speech. “But I never knew a wedding could be so much fun!”

2. I love being married. It's so great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life. --Rita Rudner

3. The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. --Carl Jung

4. A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. --Mignon McLaughlin

227--Wisconsin: Black Celebration (The Wedding Party!)
@ Site News     Aug 25 2004 - 09:58 PST
How many bride's are down-to-earth enough to use a Port-a-Poddy on their wedding day? Only the best for this wonderful couple!

How many bride's are down-to-earth enough to use a Port-a-Poddy on their wedding day? Only the best for this wonderful couple!

cherie writes: The Black Celebration happened on Aug 19, 2004. Family and friends of Allison and Sam Black danced and partied all night long in honor of the bride and groom.

You couldn't have dreamed up a better lake-side wedding. The food was delicious, the 8-peice band went all night, and there was even "premium" Port-o-Poddies.

Speeches were made, tears were shed, and smiles could be found in each corner of the tent!

216--Virginia: Kristi & Brian's Big Day
@ CherieSpotting     Jun 02 2004 - 14:34 PST

Kristi surrounded by the Groom's men.

cherie writes: It is said that lovers don't just meet somewhere; they are in each other all along, and that the very reason we exist is to love and be loved.

It has also been said that when we look back on our lives, we find that those things we did in the spirit of love represent the moments we were truly alive.

Love is a gift, and a wedding is the celebration of that gift.

Kristi and Brian got married on May 30, 2004. It was a precious ceremony (I personally know the minister) at the charming Inn at Burwell Place.

About 130 family and friends gathered to watch the lovers say "I do." Virginia is the perfect state for weddings--the state motto is: "Virginia is for lovers."

Here are the photos of Kristi preparing for her big day!
